We define hazing as any intentional, knowing, or reckless act directed at a prospective or current member that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of that person, regardless of willingness to participate. This includes but is not limited to: physical brutality, sleep deprivation, forced consumption of any substance, forced physical activity, and activities that subject individuals to extreme mental stress, humiliation, or degradation.

Your Chapter and the chapter prohibit all forms of hazing, whether during recruitment, new member education, social events, or any other chapter activity. New member education is designed to be educational, values-driven, and respectful at all times.

If you witness or experience hazing, you have several ways to report it. All reports are taken seriously and can be submitted anonymously:

• National anti-hazing hotline: 1-888-NOT-HAZE
• Campus resources: Contact your university's Office of Student Conduct or Greek Life office.

Hazing is illegal in most U.S. states. At your institution, hazing may violate university policy, state law, and your inter/national organization's policies. The federal Stop Campus Hazing Act (2024) requires universities to include hazing incidents in their annual security reports and maintain a hazing awareness program.
